Coolant Spigot Failure

It was working, now I get no coolant and the above error message. Is the pump dead?

Checked the connections both for coolant and electrical

So, I assume you push the coolant button and nothing happens now?

The spigot failure thing is likely more of a spigot position error, since I assume you have the controllable spigot on your machine.

The fact that you get that error and also no coolant seems a little odd. Can you hear the pump coming on? You checked to make sure everything was still plugged in?

My coolant pump is getting tired on my mill, but it is blatantly obvious as it is making a lot of noise in the bearings now, but I am still getting a pretty much full pressure, so for the alarm to happen and now absolutely no coolant seems really strange to me.

Make sure all the lines are open. Or, try the wash down hose.

The alarm number would have helped.

It is just a position error. It alarms out after 2 failed attempts

196 (M) COOLANT SPIGOT FAILURE - Spigot failed to achieve commanded location after two (2) attempts.

I don't think it has any affect on whether or not your pump works.....

I was getting the same alarm.
Turns out that the coolant had become gummed up around the shaft on the P-COOL unit. I had to spend a little time getting it loosend back up. After that, no more problem.

Hope this helps.

So I just reran the program that worked and the coolant came out. Then I ran that program followed by the sequence that failed and the machine gave me the failure once it got to the second sequence.
I dont have programable coolant. Is that what the H01 H02 value is?

Because the H02 is what is on the failing portion of the program

Is there a value in the coolant position column, on the offset page?

If there is you might need to zero all the coolant postion numbers.

Okay so on the program that would not run which had a T02 called out, I set the tool to T01 and the program ran.

On the offset page it says CLNT POS 1. Not sure if thats what your talking about

It seems odd that you would have coolant positions without actually having the programmable coolant nozzle.

I've never even seen a haas without the programmable coolant nozzle so I can't say whether or not the control always has a spot for positions even on machines without the automated coolant nozzle.

Like doug said, zero all of the coolant positions out - then try running it. Is this machine new to you?

the machine is new to me. Just came in yesterday. I am not sure how to zero the coolant positions so any guidance would be great

thanks

highlight them, then hit "0" then "F1". that should set them to zero.

This should fix the problem.

I see exactly what I was doing wrong now. I thought the second column was my own tool # designation but it is a coolant position parameter. On tool 1 I had the value set to 1 On tool 2 I had it set to 2.

I will try this out and report back

thanks

Is this a new machine?

Are you positive it does not have programmable coolant?

After seeing your current post, if I am understanding you correctly, you are saying that it has a column for coolant nozzle position, you actually don't have programmable coolant, you put a position in the column, and the control alarms out as a result.

This scenario makes sense to me, as there is nothing telling the control that the nozzle has reached position...however, I didn't realize that the machines without the programmable nozzle would have the column on the tool offset page for the position for the nozzle...

It wouldn't surprise me, though, that Haas just leaves that column there whether or not the machine has the automated coolant spigot.
