only 500 programs?

does anybody know a way to put more than 500 programs on a TM-1?
the nature of our manufacturing requires thousands of different configurations of similar parts but we move from one to another constantly.

thanks for the help!

500 programs

Does your TM-1 have a USB Drive?

If so, I think you can run the programs directly from the USB Drive instead of the internal machine memory. I also believe that when this is done there are certain limitations which others here can explain.

The size of the USB stick would be your only limitation.

Geof will become famous soon enough

As far as I understand it when running from the usb drive you cannot use subroutines similar to running drip feed from a computer.

Why not simply hook up a dedicated PC to store the programs and then just load the one you want to use.

It might pay to ask Haas support about the number of files that are permitted in one directory, and whether the limit has changed over the years. Old PCs running FAT12 and FAT32 used to have a limit of something like 512 (some power of 2). I don't know what happens when you try to squeeze in one more than you should have

It's 500 on our 2007 VF-1. Kind of BS, since it has 16 megs of memory, yet I have to delete programs quite often to stay under 500.

Nothing happens when you try to upload one more. It just warns you that you're at the max number of programs.
