New HAAS VF-2D Vertical Mill

Hi,

I just bought a new HAAS VF-2D Vertical CNC Mill and don't no how to use the HAAS Controler. The manual that came with the CNC is very primitive and was hoping someone had some pointers as to where I can get started to familiarize myself with it.. I do have plenty of CNC knowledge as this is my second CNC Mill. but the CNC I have now has a PC based controler and is much different then the HAAS.

Also, I don't have the post processor for MasterCam V9.

The first CNC I have is a Frank Pheonix which I have the Mcam V9 Post for (came with the machine).

I am using X2 MR2 as well but I just use the updatepost utility in X2 MR2 for my Pheonix Mill V9 post.

I want to do the same with the HAAS CNC but don't know where to get the post.

Is there a generic post processor that comes with Mastercam that will work for it? Or do I need to get the Post from somewhere else?

Here's an MC9 post that works with a Haas. You'll have to update it for X2 though.

I'd suggest just looking thru the modes and display modes on the controller. All the info you need to put in your other CNC machine is the same in the Haas, just in a different place. Once you become familiar with getting around the control it should be easy to operate.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info!

I will try out the post first thing in the morning. Which one do I use,

MPFAN.pst or RPFAN.pst?

Yeah, I needed the .txt file to go with it because If I get stricktly a version X or higher post then the .txt is integrated in the .pst file and I can't create a V9 post from it.

Thanks agian,

Help with Haas VF-2

Here is a file that might help. It is based on the Mini Mill, but the control is the same.

Go on the Haas website and look for the programming workbook, or something to that extent. It has a fantastic number of examples and exercises you can work through.
