Need Help!- Setting up VF3 to read off server

We have a 97 VF3 and are currently using a usb drive instead of the floppy to load are programs in which works okay. Programming is done on a laptop and then saved to the flash drive. Would like to send the program wireless to another computer that is wired to the Haas thru the RS232 port. In short would like to be able to read all of the programs that are stored on the computer with the Haas.

Open to any suggestions and ideas or setups that have worked at other shops.

RS-232 works well for DNC (drip-feed) applications, but if you want to transfer programs back and forth much easier and faster, use the Ethernet and hard-drive features.

Using ethernet is not an option as the machine is a 1997 and the cost to high for a Haas install.

I guess I am stuck with the rs-232. Is there a way to not have to walk to the machine to "ready it " to receive the file?

I have done a search in this forum on this subject but have not come to the conclusion that you can get away from the above problem.

Can you still DNC with this setup?
