Hi guys, The coolant in my vf2 has finally become so stinky it is unbearable. I need to get rid of it and start fresh. How do you guys dispose of the coolant when you need to replace it? and also what is the procedure for getting the machine ready for the new coolant? I am using blasers universal 2000 coolant. thanks in advance. Mark |

| Oh that's awful. Happened to me ONCE, never again. I had floating curds on top of the stink. I pumped what I could, dipped what i had too. Then refilled with hot soapy water and a touch of bleach and pumped this out right away, then another flush to dilute the soap out. Then a refill with fresh coolant. Now i run an aireator 15 minutes a day and add biocide if the machine sits two weeks. its never happened again. Karl |

Fish tank pump very occasionally does it for me. With the lid on no light gets in and I haven't used for 6 months now. If it did stink, my wife would be the first one to notice!!

although it was probably better than dumping it down the sink.I have a link to a document from Castrol that describes how to separate the water from the coolant so you can dump the water down the drain and put the coolant oil into a used oil place. But I will not be home to look it up for a few weeks.

| It's better down the sink than throwing it in the parking lot ! What a moron. IT IS HAZ MAT ! Get it pumped by a reputable recovery company. Yes, it's gonna cost you a little money up front, but better than a 10-100K dollar fine. I've never seen any coolant you could separate enough to get the water clean enough to dispose of through the sanitary system, it's not just oil and coolant you need to clean from the water, it's all the solids from cutting as well. We used to use a company called Evergreen, I think it was about a buck and a half per gallon, but they did all the correct paperwork and if the EPA comes knocking, you have proof. I've seen two shops forced in to bankruptcy from that. |

| If you want to condense it down, put it in a barrel in the back yard with a pump, and just make a cute little coolant fountain that runs all day. The water will evaporate off, leaving the concentrate/oil guck. That will be a lot cheaper to dispose of. We were going to do it until the HAZ MAT BOYZ heard tell, then they got nasty. It wasn't that it was a bad idea, just that it took away from their glory. |
