Hey Guys Wondering if its possible to get the Early Power Failure Detection module as an add on for my 05 VF3SS. After having some electrical storm activity here in Socal last night, I had 4 cases where the lights flickered, and the machine shut off. It wasnt enough to affect any 110v systems here in the shop, but anything in the business park that was 208/220 got hit. Street lights, wall washers and my machine all took a big dump. When the power cut, the head sagged and i toasted a part. This happened 4 times last night. Enough is enough. I never understood the merit of the EPDM, but now i do. Anyone ever retrofitted their exisiting VMC with one. Are there other options (Phase converters, UPS, etc?) Learning SOOOO MUCH EVERYDAY. Thanks in advance Chris |

| $595 is the current price on the website. I can't imagine more than an hour or so of labor (if that). Other options I've purchased in the past came with installation instructions for the tech. If you're really brave inside your cabinet, you could give that a whirl. The labor should still be pretty affordable. Shoot, man, you're in Newbury Park? You've got the Torrance HFO and you could walk to the factory to pick up the parts. Just call them and get an estimate. We've had 4-5 power outages this year. Luckily the machines were not in-cut when they happened. I'm beginning to rethink my decision to not get the option as well. The control on our VF-5XT made some awful 'groan-beep-beep-groan-clack-clack-beep-beeeeeeeeep' noises as the brown-out turned to full black-out. Each time, I thought, "Man, that can't be good on the electronics!"

| Yep in Newbury Park. Been a steep learning curve for me. Forgot to change the tool number in one of my cam programs and there was a ZERO offset on the tool i was using. You know what happened next. BOOM. Luckily not much damage as it rammed into my piece of 6061, but scary nonetheless. Then a careless omission of G54 when cut and pasting code got me a broken toolsetter. I ordered up another break link and extra probe tip (for the spindle probe) and went to the factory to pick it up. What an operation there!!! People everywhere. Campus security wouldnt let me past the front visitor parking. Trucks rolling in and out with dream machines, powdercoated parts, and others. God Bless America and the new realities of Manufacturing. Love this forum too. |

That is why I have a system that needs a negative value in the tool offset. Then, if for some reason, the tool offset is not entered the tool stays too high.
