| In my experience this is very difficult to avoid because it is galvanic corrosion between the two different types of metal. The approach I found best was to spread vaseline liberally on the table before fastening the vise down. This means there is no gap (or minimal gap) for moisture to get in and activate the corrosion. Vaseline itself is just pure paraffin, in bulk it is called white petrolatum, if you use lubricating oils they nearly always have additives that can themselves react over a long period of time and call staining. These days I don't even worry, the pitting doesn't affect accuracy just appearance.
