I have a 94 haas vf2 that one day quite receiving programs from the computer. I can send from machine to com fine. I checked cables, made new cables, different configurations from onecnc and haas and still having problems. When I send a dnc program the control says end of program found but there is nothing there to run. Could it be in the hardware of the machine? |

| From time to time we have similar problems with our old VF1 ("from time to time" means about once a year) basically what I do is slow down the baud rate of both the computer and controller, which seems to be a minor workaround that often solves the problem temporarily. Then later I find I can increase the baud back up so it doesn't take forever per program. It's odd and I have no idea if it's just a coincidence, but I figured it was worth mentioning in case you hadn't yet tried that. |

| OK now I have made up two new cables set every parameter in every combination I could think of and now I have no com at all. Nothing to or from. Is there a com board in the haas that went bad? How can I test it if there is ? |

| If the machine replied with program found then there must be some form of communication and It would rule out the cable; besides the machine does send programs to the PC. So the problem may be related to the file format. The % at the beginning and end of the program is use as a flag for the beginning and end not just of the program but the communication. It could also be that some of the setting for the communication program under ASCII may be omitting the line ends with line feeds. To troubleshoot for this you could try software like Hyper Terminal already found on your PC. Ultimately, you are also be right when you write that it could be hardware problem

| I had the same problem sending through a usb to serial adapter. It seemed like the usb adapter didn't have enough juice to send a file but the machine had enough juice to send to the computer. I brought in an old pc with a real serial port (after changing cables and settings to no avail) and I could send to the machine again. Food for thought. |
