Does anyone know how Haas handles travel service charges when they make more then 1 service call at lets say 2 nearby but different locations, but both being 1 hour from their service center location? Thanks Dave |

| I am 2 hours plus from my HFO, one way. The last time a service guy was here he implied they were changing their policy regarding such calls. There is 2 more Haas machines 4 miles from me. He implied that if they came to my place & the place down the road the same day we would both get charged 4?? whatever hours winshield time. That amounts to $360?? just to show up. Murphdog |

Would you drive for four hours for nothing?

Hmm you trimmed away the context there Geof. It is understandable and reasonable if they are only coming to his shop, though it sounds as they they are going to double dip if they are visiting both shops on the same trip. bob |

| I think this has been discussed before and apparently, it varies by HFO. Mine has service techs who live all over LA county. They usually dispatch them right from their driveway. I don't think that's the case with all HFOs though.

This is a totally normal thing to do. The dealer I used to work for had a 350.00 minimum per shop. That was 10 years ago. I charged a 250 minimum when I was independent. It's not just the service guys time, it's also fuel, accounting, tools, billing, 30-60 days waiting for a check. Just like a shop. Would you discount your shop labor for an hour job that won't repeat? Yes some people got upset, but then again people get upset when they can't get service guys out right away. If the dealer/company can't make a profit, the service guys are always the first to get laid off. |

| Yes it definitely varies between HFO's. Some will bill one way, some will offer a discouted travel rate, and some will bill each customer round trip travel to each customer that day. What is fair, proper, or outrageous; you will get many different opinions. How would you feel if you were billed for a lengthy travel trip only to find out the next shop only got billed for a 10 - 20 min travel? Pretty pissed off for sure. The dealer may not be able to divide up all of the travel time between customers that day because the tech may not know how many people he will see in a single day. Once again, a pissed off customer because one trip he will have a $100 travel bill while the next may be $500 or more. Bottom line is you can call the service manager and discuss their policy if you don't like it and try to influence a change. Otherwise you will just need to suck it up as a cost of doing business or move closer to the dealer. Your choice. |

| I never ask where they come from or where they go next but I bet in the long run the double charges even out and may even make up for time not charged, high gas priices, etc. QUOTE=rowbare;825078]Hmm you trimmed away the context there Geof. Hello im a service tech from the chicagoland area. My company charges $90.00 an hour travel to and from our main location. No matter where we come from or where we go after. I dont know how others do this but ive never had many customers complain about this policy. I had to go to upper Michigan and had 7 hrs of travel one way, he wasnt happy about his bill. This way I believe is fair because that part of the bill will never change from call to call. What if the guy came from a farther location then his main building, then would you complain about that? |
