In 1994 there was a shift from Counter Weight to the Hydraulic counterbalance. The Hydraulic counterbalance are easy to id by Hydraulic tank mounted on the column of the machine. The alarm 105 can because by overload on the motor due to mechanical binding, faulty motor, motor cable or drive card. To test for mechanical binding turn off the machine and lock it down for safety and drop down the Z axis way cover and try to turn the Z axis ball screw by hand it should turn freely on both directions.

thanks for your answer, i have traced my problem to the z axis drive card, i am trying to fault find the card at the moment the card will allow me to jog the z axis down but will not allow me to jog upwards this is when i get the 105 alarm.

Regards
Denis

Have you tried to swap the Z-Axis card with either x or y to see if the fault follows to the same axis. Otherwise do as Ken mentioned and see if Z-Axis ball screw turns freely.

hello thanks for the reply i swapped the z card with the y card and the problem moved as well so the card is the problem now finding the fault on the card is the problem it may not be worth repairing as some components can be difficult to source i will also have to check the z axis motor as it may have cause the card to fail.

regards
Denis
