92 VF2 Low Spindle Oil

I had a low spindle oil warning, it wasnt in the alarms, show up last night before I powered down. I am guessinf that is was refeing to the gear box and not the spindle. I looked it up in my book and it said to contact your haas tech. I would hate to call someone out just to fill some oil, has anyone had any experience with this?

If you did not get an alarm then it is possible that it was just a maintenance timer that you saw. But if you have not serviced the gearbox oil in some time you may want to do it.
Behind the spindle nose there should be a small cover plate about 4" X 6". Remove this plate and then you should be able to see a drain plug and an over flow drain tube. Take out the drain plug and wait for the oil to stop draining. Reinstall the plug, then at the top of the head you should see a fill port with a spring loaded lid. Fill the gearbox with Mobil DTE 25 or equivelant until oil runs out the overflow tube from below. Once it is full clean up your mess and reinstall cover plate.
