I have a DT-1 with the wireless probing system, I have not used the machine for a while. When I went to set the offsets on a new tool I get an alarm, which reads probe open can't find anything in the manual on codes, any suggestions.

| The problem is in the programing of the tool setter if you enter the tool type as end mill and run the process it causes the alarm, if you change the tool type to drill it works fine. Are any of the other DT-1 owners having the same problem

| Are you using Visual Quick Code to run the probe or are you using the offset page? If you are using the offset page to probe an End Mill length you need to put in the aproximate length of the tool. That is the length from the spindle face to the end of the tool. If you are probing the length and diameter you need to put in the aproximate length and diameter. Best regards. Mike xyz |

| It does not matter which one I use the result is the same. The problem with using the drill is it centers the tool for checking, which on large dia. end mills could be a problem and it does not spin while checking the length

Hi Reed, You should have received a USB Stick with your machine that has all the parameters etc. backed up. Not sure if the 9000 series Probing Macros were on that USB stick. I would think your DT1 is still under warranty. I would call your local HFO where your purchased it and see if that could give you some guidance. Possibly the 9000 Series Macro programs that control the Probe have somehow been corrupted. Your HAAS Service Engineer sould be able to send those to you and have your reload them or make an appointment and come out and fix it for you. Let us know how you make out.

| It sounds as though you may not be using the routines correctly or providing the correct information to the machine. I would suggest calling your HFO and asking if they have a Renishaw system on one of their showroom machines and ask if you can have someone give you a refresher on how to use it. If you go to their showroom for help they should be more accomodating of you without costing you a service call. Good luck. |

| The haas tech was the one that found the problem when he set the machine up. I just got a call from them and they have scheduled a software upgrade for the machine. Hopefully that will take care of it.
