washdown system ?

Hi all ,

just got my new VF2 , and new problems on the front line , never had those problems on TM1 , after half hour working with flycutter with steel I need to move manualy chips into the chipauger , they are too havy to move himselfs :-) there is a washdown system below the Z axis cover , but it makes nothing. The bottom covers are too flat , I think anybody know this ;-)

I did see a washdown system on HURCO , that was beautyfull .

Any tips tricks hints photos ?

I am thinking about buying another coolant pump and make somethink hurco familiar.

wash down system

I talked on one of my friends on one of the machinist forums a year or so back about doing some type of a wash down system.

He did some type of farming work and had access to some spray nozzles for agriculture equipment. Pressure washer tips could also possibly be used.

The idea was to place them in strategic locations within the cabinet and hook them up with poly tubing and appropriate fittings. Possibly the spray nozzles could be held in place with strong magnets in case minor re-positioning would be required. They could also be mounted permanently to the cabinet.

The pump could be controlled via one of your spare M Codes and appropriate code would be inserted into your program to spray as needed or even put it on some type of a timer to activate the wash down system. The timer circuit could be activated either by the HAAS via M Code Call or via external circuit.

Just a few thoughts that may be of some help. If you check my gallery listed below in my signature you will find some videos I did on a few coolant modifications I did on my HAAS TM-1P.

We have several VF2's and had similar problems. We just added a second pump that ran all the time and added two extra flushing points like on the z axis cover to the back walls either side of the machine. This works reasonably well. We installed three new VF2SS machines last week and they have the new triple auger system and redesigned sheet metal in the bottom of the machine to aid swarf removal, we'll see how they go.

Andrew.

We were just talking about this today. I don't even run the auger hardly in steel, chips just don't make it into it. I give them a sweep forward every few cycles and run it for a few minutes.

What about just buying a couple more of the nozzles like over the Y axis and adding them to either side in the back? Perhaps another coolant pump could just be added right where the through spindle coolant pump is supposed to go, for those of us who don't have it.

*Edit*

Whoops, looks like he already did that I might consider that next time we have a good month and I'm feeling spendy. haha.
