Problem- probe alarm

I was wanting to try out some of the different options on my Renishaw Wireless Probe system, and saw that has a 3-point bore/boss O9832 macro. Made a program and get a 503 illegal macro variable reference. anyone know what this means? i'm running it on a VF-3. I called my local HFO ... and they were unable to help

Was your probe last calibrated w/ macro 09803 or 09804? You must calibrate w/ 09804 for the 3 point boss/bore to work.

It must be 9803, i do not see a template in the VQC for a 9804... is there one you have, or do i have to program it(it's just time consuming, but what isn't when it comes to manual programming)

You need a copy of the Inspection Plus manual. Contact Reneshaw, they cand email you a PDF copy for free (thats how I got mine). It has a wealth of information and can walk you thru the o9804 calibration and the 3 point bore/boss probing.

hopefully last question; Is any special stylus ball needed or can i use the one supplied by HAAS that came with the probe kit?

You can use the original stylus ball, as long as its calibrated w/ 09804.

I see, just got off the phone with Renishaw support ( very helpful). showed me how to change it in the O9023 and O9301 programs from 09803 to 09804.... took all of 5mins. Told me HAAS does this to keep it simple.... don't blame them.
