floppy drive

so, i have had this happen a number of different ways... it seems as though my vf-3 will load a file off of the floppy when it wants to. case in point..

i hit f4 to read the floppy...
it now shows dir list
i type in the file number saved on the disk and hit f3
it will either show up at the top of the screen or it will tell me floppy abort

sometimes i hit f4 and it flashes floppy abort. then as soon as you hit it again without changing a thing... it now shows a dir list?

WTF is going on with my schtuff???

can someone tell me the CORRECT way of loading a file onto the machine via floppy. i have asked on here about converting to a USB drive cause thats so much simpler than a friggin floppy! could this be my problem? could my floppy drive be jacked?

Sounds like the drive may be getting dirty. It is just a regular floppy drive after all. They do make errors when dirty. Disks can be questionable too, so try a new one of those also.

Two of the machines at work do not show our files in the directory, so we always just enter the file name and hit F3. Very simple.

Best of luck-----Mike

I'll second problematic disks. Sometimes ours refuse to work until you take it out from the machine and slap it on your knee, reinsert the disk and voila. We also use filename+F3.
