Need Help!- haas vf2

I have a 1995 HAAS VF2. The machine did not come from the factory with rigid tapping. I bought it understanding that it did have it. But unfortunately it doesn't. Is it possible to upgrade so where rigid tapping can be used? Any help would be great. If at all possible what would something like this cost?

Rigid tapping is just a software switch on option - no hardware required.
If you call the Haas factory or your dealer - they will let you know how much it will be. You shouldn't even need a tech to visit - should all be done over the phone.

See if your spindle has an encoder on it.- probably on top of the spindle motor shaft If not, there may be substantial work to install one. I have a 1994 VF1 and rigid tapping os an option. I do not have an encoder on my spindle. I use the flexi taping head and have no problems with tapping.

FWIW I used rigid tapping on an Okuma mill and had to use the flexi head to prevent breakage of small (#2 and smaller) taps.
