i have a 95 vf-3 that has the floppy drive. i am wondering if anyone has gotten rid of the floppy in favor if a usb port instead? i would assume that there is an interface cable that connects the floppy to the controller or wherever it goes inside. so, is it just as simple as plug and play? i know you can do that on regular computers at home. why not one that weighs 14,000#? also, can you switch out the crt in favor of a newer flat screen? one last thing... can i add a pendant so its easier to set the x,y,z coordinates rather then being bent around the machine to reach the wheel on the control panel? |

| you should be able to get a usb convertor, no problem. As for the CRT, it is possible to replace the CRT with an LCD, but there isn't one that you can buy that will just fit - brackets will need to be made and convertor plugs for d-plug etc. To be honest it would probably not be worth the hassle. If you require a new CRT then I would just recomend replacing with another CRT. As far as I am aware you cannot fit a remote jog handle to a 95 machine. Would need to be around 98-99. Hope this helps. |

| Has any one used the plrelectronics converter with a Haas mill? If so does it bolt right in to the exsisting location of Haas' floppy drive? I have a TM-1 and would like to convert it. If someone has done it I'd like to buy one. |
