| I have a newbie question concerning setting the threading tool on an SL10. What's the best way to set the z offset when touching the threading tool off? I'm using a standard 60 degree threading insert, but am curious as how to set the Z so that I get the correct thread length. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!! |

| If I am threading up to a shoulder I always touch off the leading edge of the insert so I dont hit the shoulder then use mt tool length to ajust it as close to the sholder as I can if I am not threading up to a shoulder then I set it at the point. Although it depends if your programmer has took this in account when he wrote the program. |

| Same approach as chucker; I like to know the position of the furthest point on the tool because that is what hits things. I find the distance from the end of the insert to the center of the tip is about equal to (maximum) pitch the insert is good for; in other words with a full profile insert that is the pitch but on a non topping insert it is the pitch at the top of the range the insert is used for.
