Hello, I am running inconel on a Haas Lathe CNC machine and I am having trouble with the speed rate and RPM to cut spline head inconel. At what standard speed setting should I try to set the speed rate and RPM? What inserts? Thanks in advance for all your help! Adam Last edited by Adam77; 01-20-2009 at 01:05 PM. |

Do you have a local tool guy? You should be able to get them to give you some inserts to try (and buy if you like 'em). It's been a while since I've cut inconel, but it isn't any big deal. Probably want to go with a TiCN coating. Your tool guy will give you speeds and feeds - or check with the manufacturer of the insert you end up with. They always have application guys.

We machine X750, 600 and 909 Inconel quite often. We use I believe that we use Sandvik 1525 inserts for the material and get beautiful results. Give your Sandvik rep a call and I'm sure they will set you up. Good luck, Bythebookbob

We use Iscar CNMG's IC907 grade for roughing 1.2mm rad, not sure if they are the best but we do get a good deal price wise. Sumitomo EH10Z's for finishing. Arno are good too, cant remember the grade off the top of my head but will find out.

Would that be a CNMG insert? and what profile rad does that insert use? Thanks, Lee

Iscar has a new Grade IC807, look for a CNMG 432 TF IC807 for medium DOC. 1.0-2.5mm DOC & .15 - .25 mm/rev.
