I do not think this is really dangerous because the machine has stopped by the time the door is fully open. You can still get a coolant bath.

So I just took delivery of a brand new VF1. My first real CNC machine.

The tech told me that the door override is gone now on the new models. Can anyone confirm this?

I have a healthy fear of the machine but periodically I do want to open the door and check on things.

    Is this possible?

You can open the door but that will stop the machine.

This has been covered in a couple of threads in the past few months. There is no Setting 51. The machines have a key switch or something, that can be turned on to allow limited operation for setup.

I'm probably breaking some international laws but who gives rat’s a$$.
I made c-clips and put them right over the switches. I'm done forever.

Beware that the new machines can't use a simple "jump". They won't let you home the machine until the door is opened then closed (or until the machine thinks that happened).
With some machines you can easily tape a penny over the switch but others it's not so easy.

Never quite understood all the "machinists" that can't work on a machine (at least the mechanicals).

Okuma is similar. Can't complete machine power up and homing until switch is activated. I took the "key" off and placed in the switch body, then moved the switch body to a location near the control panel for easy access. Then can activate the switch easily when needed.
