| Travis1, Well it looks like it would work except for maybe one small thing, A Dwell of some sort between movements of bar and clamping/unclamping. Here is what mine looks like which does work, the axis locations change but the format does work. One thing too, always cancel your tool offset at the end of tool. Oh Yeah almost forgot to tell you. You must be in full auto for this to work, not single block or it will stop and not continue to execute. If you are a little leary of positions and such you can go into the settings parm #101 and change it for feed rapid override. press the feed handlwheel button. What this will do is overide the rapid, even at 5% you can tweek the wheel down the feed and the rapid drops too to like 1% and you can coast it into position comfortably and not worry about running full auto like you woulf if it wouldn't go any lower than 5%. | Just a hint for Single Blocking programs with a bar feed operation. Put an M01 after the chuck closing command and when you reach the chuck open line turn on Optional Stop and turn off Single Block and run through the open and close operation. This way you can get past the bar feed part and then turn Single Block on again.

| You have a clamp mounted on the turret which is either spring loaded or activated by pressurized air or coolant. Stop the spindle. Bring the clamp in to grab the bar. Open chuck. Pull the bar out the required amount, this requires feed per minute command. Close chuck. Release clamp and continue with program. Actually a clamp is not essential. I have done it using fingers that fit into a parting tool cut using the sequence: partially part off, bring in fingers, pull bar, finish part off.

| I use a piece of acetal or pvc, bored so that fits tightly on the stock material in an extra toolholder as a "grabber". Just make sure the end of the bar has no burrs. Stop the spindle, Bring the plastic in and jam it over the bar. Open chuck. Pull the bar out the required amount, this requires feed per minute command. Close chuck. Pull away and continue with program. |
