| What I've found in the 6 short months that I've been using a Haas, as far as overtravel alarms go, all things are relative. Where the turret is when you hit cycle start, where the Z zero point is, and does the turret move on the X or Z axis first to get to the start point. Every day I discover something new about our SL 30. Be sure that you don't have any misplaced decimal points in the X or Z coordinates. IE z 2.0 not z 2 |

| Did you follow the instructions in the Haas lathe manual? It seems fairly succinct. I don't have a Haas lathe, but the controls look similar enough to mill that I can perhaps anticipate your problem. Plus, tool settings on lathes are all based on the same set of variables. When you touch off the tool and press the X dia measure button, that only inserts a value for the distance of the tool from machine home, so its only a partially complete process. Then, you have to key in the diameter and press Write. When you do that, an addition (or subtraction) is performed on the value that was automatically inserted by the X dia measure button. The online manual describes this procedure for OD tools, but for ID tools, they neglect to tell you to key in the ID measured value and press Write to correct the X dia measure value. I assume it would be the same procedure for both OD and ID tools. What values, if any, would you be using for your primary work offset (commonly G54)? Anyways, maybe this will bump this thread up to where some of the experienced Haas lathe guys can give you some more tips.

| Did you touch off your tools correctly? Did you set a G54? Is the program you are running asking the machine to move more then its capable in the X or Z axis? Say you have a turn tool, its touched off and g54 set, but the program is asking the tool to move 100" in Z instead of 10"... Things like that... Is the tool number matching in the program to the tool you touched off.. ^^ It happens lol. |
