    tl 1 enclosure

How many guys have a tl1 with the enclosure? It is really expensive and seems like it makes sense but does it? I have a manual lathe which I machine dry because of the mess. It seems as though a tl 1 with coolant and no enclosure would be a disaster. I know a few guys on the mill side (who probably surf here also) have made a splash type guard but it still has to be really messy.3 K for the enclosure, ouch!!!!

I think it is 3k well spent.

The enclosure is not perfect, actually if you look around the Haas lathe forum you will find a number of people quite dissatisfied with it, but I could not do without it. I have to admit I did some mods; I put some pictures in Post #13 in this thread:

HELP! My TL-2 Leaks coolant excessively
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

Thanks Geof, I think it makes sense. It might not be perfect but it has to be better than nothing

I have a TL-2 with an enclosure and it is money VERY well spent. While it does have its short commings it beats running from hot chips and taking a daily coolant bath. BTW, the cutters last much longer using coolant and at $20 for an insert it will eventually pay for itself being able to flood cool the cutter.
