engraving on haas ?

Hi all,

is there a way to engrave a text on haas lathe ? i meant can I write some text on the side of tube ( radius engraving ? ) with a specific code ? I know there is on mill, but i don`t have 4th axis so i try it on lathe. any ideas ?

Not if you don't have live tooling and a C axis. If you do...it's a piece of cake.

I haven`t but I can mount a air spindle as a tool , and drive it with G05 , are they on lathe any cycles for engraving like on mill ? or mapping XY coordinates on tube ?

You are going to substitute C for X. You don't have a C axis. Can't be done.

Hey PBMW you say it is a piece of cake but with out a post how do you do it with what software. I use deskengrave for end engraving but would love to do outside OD engraving any suggestions ?

Hello PBMW, were you able to set your machine up to serialize parts as they run on the machine? 00001,00002 etc. thanks ed
