I just thought I share the Coolant Drain Upgrade experience with you guys. I got the updated drain through Haas for free, and we finally got a little time to install it. Actually we were trying to clean the intergal coolant tank on the SL-10 to switch to Liquid Ice coolant when I discovered Haas puts a nice baffle in the tank to keep chips from clogging the pump. Basically it was just a chip trap, and I removed a 5 gal bucket of chips from the coolant tank under the chip pan. I was starting to wonder why it was only taking a little over 10 gallons of coolant to fill the machine Anyway we decided to install the drain because we had to take the machine apart anyway to remove the POS baffle.A few pics if anyone is interested. http://www.ewwenterpriseinc.com/images/drain1.JPG http://www.ewwenterpriseinc.com/images/drain2.JPG http://www.ewwenterpriseinc.com/images/drain3.JPG http://www.ewwenterpriseinc.com/images/drain4.JPG http://www.ewwenterpriseinc.com/images/drain5.JPG http://www.ewwenterpriseinc.com/images/drain6.JPG http://www.ewwenterpriseinc.com/images/drain7.JPG http://www.ewwenterpriseinc.com/images/drain8.JPG http://www.ewwenterpriseinc.com/images/drain9.JPG Ed |

| I don't have a part number for the drain. I replied to a post a while ago about the original drain plugging and flooding the chip pan. Some one from Haas saw the post and contacted me about the updated drain. They sent it to me free, and in a few days They even sent me a few solidworks files to show the location of the drain. I couldn't believe it. Great support if you ask me. I'm not sure of the guys name anymore, I've had the drain for over a year now. Just got around to installing it.Have you had your chip pan apart? I couldn't believe the ammount of chips that were directly under the chip pan. Haas could have at least mentioned that it might need to be cleaned. You know they have stickers saying the basket strainer under the pump needs to be checked, but I was not prepaired for what lay under the chip pan. All caused by the stupid baffel that Haas put in the tank. I guess it's to stop chips from clogging the basket strainer. No wonder there were never any chips in the part of the coolant tank where you can actually clean it. They were all stuck under the chip pan where you have to dissassemble something to clean the tank. Oh well that baffel won't be causing me anymore trouble |

| One more thing. Cleaning the coolant tank will be much easier with the new drain and the baffel removed. I can rinse down the tank through the new drain and all the crap will flow down toward the pump where it can be easily removed. |
