So, Yesterday I was setting up my little SL10. Got the program running pretty good when a half inch screw machine drill went away. Go get another one from the tool room...put it in and whip out the tool probe. Beep...beep. Hmmm. Them numbers look just like the numbers what was in there before... So I put in 0.0 in the Z offset and re probe the drill. The machine don't stop but the probe beeps. Hmmm..... Shut it down nad re boot it. Same thing. So I fudge factor the tool offset and get to running, thinking well, it's about 60 days and time for something else to bust on this thing. This morning it's time for another drill.... Probe works fine. Now THAT's enough to make me have a bunch of confidence in this thing! |

| Well, that was one of my first questions... Apparently quitea bit. I touch nad get my finger off the button as soon as I hear the beep. I happened to look at the number before hand and it was still that number. That got my curiosity up... Don't know just how much overtravel thay have but thankfully, I didn't exceed it! |

My favorite solution. Turn off main power, cross fingers, look beseechingly at the control and turn power back on. This has worked numerous times and my 'technical' diagnosis for the original fault is that a stray cosmic ray came through and reset a bit somewhere.

| Well that's what I tried right off the bat. I mean...No sence wastin time. Shut it off. Waited a prudent ammount of time nad fired it up. Same thing. I did get through that job by fudging the comp a bit.... Cleaned up the machine and Lo and Behold....it worked again. I think it was a chip. |
