you need to go to parameter 43 and turn invis axis to a 0 then you can do an m43 in mdi and that will unclamp the turret then hit the letter a and hit handle jog then you should be able to jog the turret to tool one and line it up with the coolant nozzle. then clamp the turret with m44. remove the x axis way cover and find the motor coupling loosen the clamp screw closest to the motor and go back to parameter 43 and make invis axis a 1 then change z ch only to a one with the motor coupling loose do a zero return a zero single axis the turret should pop out the motor will spin and find the z channel and then the turret will clamp find the center of the backlash on the worm gear and tighten the clamp screw then change z ch only back to a 0. replace covers and turn setting 7 back on parameter lock. replace covers.

ok i got the turret all ligned up using invis a axis and clamped it with a m44 with param 43 still at 1. i took the cover off the x axis the top one i assume, i dont quite understand what clamp screw you are talking about , is it the motor that goes into the turret? does the motor have to come off? do i have to touch the pre-loaded hydraulic? im not quite sure what to do now. any other help would be appreciated

do you have a hydraulic turret? i hope not. the motor that sticks out the back of the machine it is above the x axis motor when you look in you will see a coupling that should have a clamp screw around the ring on each side one on the worm gear side and one on the motor side when you loosen the screw on the motor side you should be able to turn the coupling back and forth and feel backlash in the worm. then you make sure parameter 43 invis axis is a 1 and change paramter 43 z ch only to a one then zero return A zero single axis then find the center of the backlash by rocking the coupling back and forth and then put it in the middle and tighten the screw. then change z ch only back to a zero

if you cannot see the clamp screw on the ring then you need to jog the turret and loosen turn the coupling then tighten the coupling and so on until you can see the screw at the tool one clamped position

we have an sl-30. how can i change the invis axis in parameter 43? when i try to change the value to 0 it says "function locked". the tool is off center about 2mm. could i align it only from the parameters and the jog?

Did you turn off "Parameter Lock" in your settings before you tried to turn off the parameter? I forgot that once and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.

The hydraulic turret is now standard equipment on the SL-30s and 40s. You will need to confirm whether your turret is hydraulic or pneumatic. The hydraulic turret's A-axis motor is keyed and is adjusted with parameter 212. The new mechanical repair manual has both procedures in it.

Cool

I'm curious. How do you know your turret is out?

Are your tools comming in at the wrong location? How do you set your tools? I recently had to calibrate the probe. Somehow it was off -.8. It was wild.

Either way, good luck.
