What year and model? Might not matter. Try pressing any other mode key and then back to edit and I think it will clear.
Every once in a while I somehow dumb thumb myself into an edit mode where I end up with two edit screens, side by side. My problem is how do I get out of it? Rebooting works every time, as it always does, but I would hope there is a better solution.

It's a 2009 GT-10. I've tried punching a lot of the obvious buttons down the left side of the Operation Modes section with no response, like MEM, MDI, Handle Jog, etc.
Assuming your machine is functioning correctly you can switch between the two edit screens by hitting the EDIT key. You will see the cursor move to the active screen when you do this. When the screen you want is active just hit MEM and then EDIT again and the screen you do not want will be gone (should be gone).
If this doesn't work you may need to get a software reload.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.
Next time I'll try the MEM-EDIT sequence as you are suggesting. Out of curiosity, what am I doing to get into the dual screen mode in the first place.
Thanks Guys

There are different ways to get into the double edit screen mode: When you are in EDIT mode hit F4 and a duplicate of the program you are editing will come up. If you type in a program number then F4 that program will come up. You can also go to the advanced editor by hitting F1, scrolling across until the PROGRAM menu at the top drops down and then you have other options.
Probably you have been accidentally hitting F4.

Thanks everyone, Now I have lots of solutions and nobody gave me the read your manual lecture. I readily admit I depend almost exclusively on my CAM software and it's post processor to do all the things that the edit mode on the Haas is designed to do. As previously stated, this problem usually results from a dumb thumb command. Now I have the smart thumb remedy.
I usually get out of any screen by hittin mem , currnt command then reset
