    SL30 Tool Pre-setter

    Hi,

Does anyone know what the diameter of the tool presetter is on an SL30 Lathe?

I have only been using it for setting tools in Z and using the OD of a part to set the X offset.

It would be great if I could find out what the 2 diameters are for setting turning and boring tools in the X axis.

    Thanks.

It sounds like you some how lost the info from when the probe was last calibrated. It shouldn't be too hard to recalibrate it, you just need to experiment a little. Probe an OD tool that you already know what the correct X offset should be. If the X offset changes .050 then change the probe setting .050 (.025?) and probe it again.

This is confusing to me. Unless the parameters were lost or changed for some odd reason or the probe was replaced/crashed, you should just touch off the tools in the X axis.

For drills, while in "Hand Jog" and on the "Tool Geometry" page with the appropriate tool offset highlighted, press "F2". It will automatically set the offset for the center line of the Bolt On block.

For OD turning tools, touch off the top of the probe for the X axis. For ID tools, touch off the bottom of the probe for the X axis.

There shouldn't be too much rocket science involved here. ;p

    Good luck!

    Mike

Yes, you should be able to touch off just as you stated, but from time to time, the probe for various reasons needs to be recalibrated along with the tool center line (F2) feature.

The information is in the manual.
