Hi, just want to check the rules for applying comp on the Haas Control. The last CNC lathe I programmed in Fanuc G code was an old Colchester and with that I had to.........
Apply comp on a line of its own,
Single axis move in rapid (usually to X axis start position)
Single axis move under feed at 90 degrees to the previous movement. (movement had to be at least X2 the tip rad.)
Things may have moved on from this but I used this formula yesterday and it seemed to work ok, just thought I would check if things have changed now.
Thanks

Tool Nose Compensation (TNC) is more powerful and complicated than ever. There are 22 pages in the Lathe operator's manual just on TNC. I have included those pages.
Thanks,
Ken Foulks
After you have waded through the manual excerpt that Ken uploaded, and are starting to write programs using TNC I suggest you become thoroughly familiar with running your programs in Graphics. Also try running the programs with and without the compensation commands to see how the tool path changes. I have often completely duplicated a program segment, deleted the commands in one copy and then run them both through Graphics. This way you can directly compare the un-compensated and compensated paths which is especially helpful when programming G71 and G72 paths.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.
For the most part, try to move atleast the TNR, using a G01.
