    HAAS TL-2 QUESTIONS

I just purchased a Haas TL-2 New from the HFO. I am curious if anyone has experience with the Toolroom Lathe Line. My particular question deals with running parts on a Haas Toolroom Lathe with a Dorian Manual tool Post.

Once i have a proven program and have taught my tools, is it possible that after running Tool 1 the machine goes back to rest and i loosen the tool post and drop in Tool 2 and hit cycle start? I mean will have to adjust my offset each time i drop a tool in the tool post and lock it down.

I am having a hard time beleaving that when i change tools and hit cycle start that the machine will know exactly where it is and hold a tolearance of say .0001 with out me offsetting and remeasuring and dialing in again, anyone have experience using the dorian manual tool post on this machine, your comments and experience would be most appreciates.

I don't have experience with the tool room series but I have quite a bit of experience with my Haas lathe. You have all ready answered your question. The machine doesn't know were each tool is unless you set an offset for each tool and call it up in the program. It should work just like my machine but instead of a turret being indexed you are manually changing tools. I would assume your programs look like this when going for a tool change:

    G00 G28 (RAPID HOME)
    M00 (PROGRAM STOP, CHANGE TOOL)
Txx (THIS WOULD BE THE TOOL YOU CHANGE TO. IE T01 OR T02)

If it looks similar to that, every tool your going to use in the program should be set up in the offset page.

You can use tool numbers despite not having a tool changer. You can use T101, T202...
    Thanks,

    Re: HAAS TL-2 QUESTIONS

We have a tl1 and it holds size pretty well. I was surprised at its accuracy as I too found it hard to believe it could hold size taking the tools off and on again. As long as everything is tight and solid it repeats great.
