    Standard LIVE TOOL TORQUE

I am wondering if anyone knows values of your standard live tool torque output?
And I am wondering how it compares to the new High Torque options.
I know what the new HT option output values are, but do not know a standard value to compare against.

sl30 users sl20 users st30ss with out HT option.

    Thank you for your information.

139 in/lbs. You can look at the specs at this link: http://www.haascnc.com/Promos/Prod_B...index.htm#/39/

I have no problem cutting 4130 with a .5" end mill. Drilling sucks, I stalled with a .5" drill at 535 rpm and 3 ipm. Haven't taped with it but if I had to guess I'd say no bigger than .375-16 in 4130.

    Talking

    thanks

I am not happy with the live tool power ratings at all.
That is toy power tool from Kamart/Walmart for what should be on those.

We do ss here and takes a little more power than carbon or ALU.
I will make it have more power someway somehow.

They always said I broke my toys when I was little boy!
    Yes I did!
I took em apart an found out what made em work.
I tried to put them back together, and not always worked out.

Haas is, in my opinion, about 20+ years behind the Japanese, Koreans, and I can't believe I'm saying this but Taiwan as well in turning tool technology.

Yes they have a sub spindle lathe, but who doesn't. The TL15 and 25 are ok but without a lower turret you are forced to use tool blocks that have been designed to let you put normal cutting tools, backwards, into a turret that has no rear clearance. This limits allot of what you can do. So does trying to split 12 tool positions between 2 spindles. Nakamura has a lathe with 4 turrets. Yes they offer live tooling, but who doesn't. What about a B axis for full five axis contouring. The best they can do now after all this time is roll out a new turret with y axis capability, using the same underpowered live tool drive.

I don't want to Haas bash too much. There are allot of things I like about my TL-15, I just wish it's capabilities had been better explained

The new Y axis machines actually have 50% more torque than the TL versions (7.5 instead of 5). There's also a double spindle 3-axis version coming too.

In my opinion I think it just boils down to Haas seeing their demographic market and keeping in line with a more or less straightforward series of machines to satisfy it. Haas isn't stupid, they know what most of their customers are looking for. The cheapest multitasking Nakamura is easily twice that of the new DS-30SSY.

But one thing is for sure...in order for Haas to release a dual turret machine, they'll HAVE to develop a conversational package to support it. Of course they do have those already, but combining the dual turret functionality is another story.
