st-30 at haas demo days

I went to the haas demo day a few weeks ago and saw the new st 30 ss. What got my attention was that there were no way covers over the x or b (tail stock) axis. Is it like that on all new st's?

It's little hard to see here, but during the 2011 demo here in Florida I seem to remember noticing the exposed rails, but the chips just fell off of them. has this been a problem? I just noticed this was an old post.

Wow you dug up an old post! That is the exact machine I was talking about. I went last year to see the new st and to check out some of the equipment next door. Got to see a turret punch for the first time, that was pretty cool. It was like watching a species go extinct.
