We're in the process of servicing our Vf-1, it experienced a bit of lightning related trauma. We found a blown fuse on one board, replaced it, and the machine ran fine for 3 or 4 days.
Then we got an alarm for spindle running, when it clearly was not.
Our spindle drive is a Magnetek GPD503 model DS308.
The drive had no indicator lamps, nor display. This unit is no longer supported by Magnetek, but it is by Yaskawa, its original manufacturer.
Yask rep said symptoms indicated failure of electrolytic capacitors on power board, as this board contains the power supply goodies that the control board needs. Changed all the electrolytic caps, no bad ones found.
No change in symptoms.
New alarm says low voltage AC in.
AC voltage in verifies to be normal.
If I had a real live schematic, we could trace some of this stuff.
I bought a new set of service manuals from haas when we bought the machine, but they are quite generic, as they cover every single machine haas makes. (eyes rolling)
That said, is anyone aware of more detailed service and repair documentation, service guy training materials, or...?
I have to say what an amazing resource this forum is.
gar, thanks for the fast response. Anton will be getting my order this afternoon.
I'll post our results later in the week.
