I am trying to run a '98 model VF with an HRT-210 4th axis in G93 mode. Runs fine for a bit but will freeze after maybe 5 seconds of running. No alarm, the control just hangs. It will reset and start over just fine. I suspect the feedrate has something to do with it. I have the max feed set at 15,000 in my post processor. Anything much over 15,000 gives an alarm "331 RANGE ERROR" when it finds a line with higher feedrate than that. Runs fine in G94 mode but i really would like to get the G93 mode working. My program makes a lot of tiny moves less than .0010" in distance but it doesnt seem to be running through the code to fast.
I have the same issue with a mill of similar age. We limit the G93 F-values to a much lower number. I do that partially due to the control but also because the old hardware can't really handle it anyway...
I have it set to F2000.0 although of course it also depends on the geometry. The mill doesn't have the HSM option so I've found the actual speed is pretty non-noticeable when programmed quicker. It's drastically different with newer hardware, that's for sure...most of the parts we run on this machine are done as 3+2 since the equipment has less capabilities, but you do what you gotta do.
I limited the max feed to 5,000. in the post processor and it ran the code fine. Did have to open up the in position limit for the 4th axis to prevent it from stuttering during small moves but it works. Thanks.
