Does anyone, "place a dab of grease on the V-flange of tools", as the monthly maintenance schedule says?
I've only made sure that the tools are clean and lightly oiled overall before installing. No other machine I've run called for that. Wouldn't it attract chips?
That confused me too. As far as I can tell, that was a misprint. They meant "Apply a light coat of grease to the retention knob monthly to lubricate the drawbar". The quote is from a Haas Technical Document titled "Mill-Tooling-Maintenance".
They show a drawing of a tool holder and are pointing to the pull stud. I never did it before either but since I found this documentation I've been following it. About 2 years now. No issues with chips up in the workings that I can see.
