my vf1 has been giving me trouble all day, first the hi/lo solenoid, now
all of my solenoids.
earlier today,it would shift to low,but not back up to high,if i valved
it manually it would shift into high and run fine.i figured if i put an m42
(forced high gear) i would be okay,i'm only using low for an 8-32 tap.
but now i get a spindle orient fault,if i valve the shot pin,i get a tool
clamp fault.i'm just not fast enough to valve all those solenoids by hand.
could i have a voltage problem?or something wrong with my air?the filter/
dryer seems a little clogged,i took the bowl off and opened the air valve
but i didn't seem to get much flow,so i tied without the filter cartridge and
got plenty of whoosh like that.but i still get the same fault.the solenoid
cicuit breaker is okay,i flipped off and on and could hear a change in the
air hissing up top.
The solenoid's all go back to a conection block up at the solenoid tower, you need to follow the two wires from the Hi or Low gear solenoid to the block and connect a volt meter, check that you are getting 110v. If not my guess is one of the coiles is pulling down the voltage. This coile will probably feel swolen or cracked.
check your air pressure, make sure the air line up to the head is not damaged or kinked
i called my local haas dealer this morning and the service tech talked me
through some diagnostics,i was getting 190 vac. at the i/o board,at the
solenoid pins and elsewhere, like the heat exchanger.
he had me power down for a minute to take the little cover off the 110
end of the transformer, then power back up and boot the machine to
so i could check the 110 voltage at the transformer.
when i did a restart everything worked, spindle orient, tool change to tool
1,lo gear shift, everything!so i asked him what was up and he told me not
to look a gift horse in the mouth and to just start running the machine.
a big part of why i bought a haas is because the haas store is only about
a mile away and since i couldn't afford new,i wanted to be near the parts
store for when my used machine broke down.this is the second time they
have talked me through a repair and saved me $$$ while depriving them a
service call.
if i can ever afford a new machine it will be a haas.
