Default HAAS SL-30 Chip Auger Problem

I have a HAAS SL-30 with a chip auger on it. We are having problems with the fine steel chips falling through the perforations in the sheetmetal for the coolant drainage rather than traveling out the auger chute with the bigger chips. Does anyone have a work around for this?

That is perfectly normal. Not sure how you expect to keep fines out of the tray, but it is normal. You will need to clean the tray out once in a while. Either that or be very aggressive and make only BIG chips. There is no way to keep all chips out of the chip tray.

I should have said that differently. I don't mean the "fines" what we are seeing is the standard "C or 9 shaped chip" getting through.
