You can get the code emailed to you automatically at www.cnczone.com , or you can email me directly, robert at robgrz dot com .

As far as bitmap machining, you are correct. When you open the bitmap you just specify the dimensions and the conversion to 3d is automatic.

Let me know what you think of it,
    Robert

Just wanted to let everyone know that Beta 6 has been uploaded to www.robgrz.com. The following is a list of changes. Most came directly from user input, so I hope the changes will be useful to everyone. A final release is getting closer so if you have a request then get it in now.

    - Updated 3d drawing code to not redraw the view if a dialog is dragged across it.
    - Updated ZMap rendering code. Tests show that large ZMaps redraw about 20% faster.
    - Added Bitmap and ZMap display quality settings under the Edit->Preferences menu. These settings only affect the display, not the toolpath.
    - Changed Bitmap import dialog to allow the stepover to be specified independently of the resolution and dimensions. This is done by automatically resizing the bitmap prior to conversion to 3d.
    - Fixed ASCII STL import error. It seems that Autodesk Inventor ends an ASCII STL file with "endsolid" rather than "endsolid OBJECTNAME". This caused the imports to fail.
    - Found an obscure bug where a memory allocation could fail if too large a Binary STL is loaded.
    - Added GCode output configuration. Allows the user to specify block numbering as well as allowing arbitrary code to be inserted before and after the toolpath.
    - Made the stock resizable for a bitmap based geometry.

Thanks to everyone for these suggestions and bug reports,
    Robert

Does that include an attempt today? On the release of my last version my web hosting company had problems that affected some users. I was able to find a machine at home here that was unable to download. Unfortunately the problem went away, for me at least, before the web hosting company could track down the problem. If you were not able to download it today then there is still a problem and I'll reopen my trouble ticket with my provider.

Either way, if you or anyone else is having trouble downloading the program then let me know and I can email it to you. Let me know at meshcam AT robgrz DOT com.

    Sorry for the trouble,
    Robert

I tried to download the program, entered my e-mail address and then pressed downloads and nothing happens. Is there no link or do I have to wait for the password to download it.

It should have come up with a page with a couple of download links. If you didn't get the automatic email then you may want to do it again. If you just need to get the file then it's at

    www.robgrz.com/files/meshcamb6.zip

    Sorry for the trouble,
    Robert

    Robert:

The full path name worked to dl the file. When I unzipped it the first error message (from winzip) said "broken archive". The second error (from winrar) said "wrong password for meshcam.exe, even though the text and pdf files worked. The third time unzipping (winrar again) worked perfectly. If it doesn't fit get a bigger hammer, if it breaks it probably needed replacing anyway.
    Go figure!
    Thank You

    robotic regards,

    Tom

I've had nothing but problems with the zip file passwords. Everything but winzip seems to give people trouble. I'm just about done with the registration code so the next version will not need the zip password. I'll be glad to get rid of it.

    Entering email address

    Hi Robert,
I too experienced that when entering my email address nothing happened, even after several attempts, but when I entered a email address that I had not previously used things proceeded normally and I promptly received a password.

Thought this may help narrow the area of the problem.
    Thanks
    Ken

Can you please send me the email you used that failed? I keep looking at the code and trying it out but I can't get it to fail. meshcam AT robgrz DOT com

    Thanks,
    Robert

When I use my email address to down load beta 6, (the same email address that was used to download beta 1 ) it would simply loop back to the "enter email address" text box and no email was ever received.

When I entered a email address that had not previously been used on your site it completed perfectly.

    Hope this clarifies a bit.
    Ken
