Hi,
Is anyone using the small 100w P5 servos with VSD-E drives?
I have 6 motors running a 5 axis gantry foam router, two VSDEPIs, a smoothstepper and MACH3.
I previously used only 3 axes with Rutex drives but decided to 'upgrade' after blowing a couple of drives and deciding to add an additional two axis head.
1) Does anyone know the pole count of these motors (reqd by the GDtool)?
2) Does anyone have a rough starting point for the PID tuning? I have been randomly trying values and the motors dont seem too sensitive to pretty large changes, they also dont seem to relate to the values used for the orignal Rutex PID tuning.
Many thanks
Tristan
Hi Tristian,
Sanyo P5 motors have been used as testing motors during development of VSD-E, so they should work perfectly.
1. Pole count of P5's is 4 and encoder should be 2000 PPR.
2. Unfortunately I don't have 100W model, so you have to tune drive according to manuals (unless someone else here has them). It should be quite straightforward. Forget the old Rutex tuning values, different drives have different scaling of parameters.
