I have finally been able to work on my plasma cutter. I have everything connected that I can think of. But I still can't get it to move. ![]() I am using a BOB from Candcnc, and the parallel interface board, and the 4 VSD's. I installed the parameters in GDtool for the interface board, and I installed the jumper to disable the charge pump. The Blue LED is on, so the drives are in the ready condition. Using a multi-meter I can see a 5 volt change when I press the arrow keys on Mach. I see this 5 volt change on the MTA BOB from CandCNC. This MTA BOB is what connects to the Parallel interface Board. Am I missing an drive enable or something else? Do I need to connect anything else? I will try to upload a picture of the wiring tonight when I get home. Thanks for the help Steve |

| Steve, Why are you attaching the MTA BOB to the VSDEPI? Have you tried connecting from your computer parallel port directly to the VSDEPI? Jeff...

| Jeff- I am connecting the VSD parallel interface board to the MTA because I am wanting to use the digital torch height controller that Candcnc has. I have not tried to connect the VSD parallel interface board directly to the computer parallel port (yet), but that is probably going to hapen in a day or so if I can't figure this out. I am thinking I need to use the pin #14, which is "Drive enable from PC." I am just not sure where it goes. The charge pump is on pin #1, So I am not sure about this one. Steve |

| Steve, What are these connected to? See attached image. I don't believe the VSD E common is +5volts

| Jeff... Do you have "J3" set to pins 2-3 for common ground? See attached diagram. Jeff...

| Jeff- In your post #7- Those wires are "Common" For the charge pump for the VSD, I installed the jumper to by-pass this. Once I get everything running, I will install it. I will have to check the Jumper 2-3 setting. I think this is set correct, because on my multi meter I can see the +5 volts for "direction" for each axis. Which xml file are you talking about? I set up the candcnc bob acording to the instructions, and I am using their plug-in for Mach3. This sets all the ports and pins. I will set up a instant messenger. Do you have one you like to use? Thnaks for the help Steve |
