Thumbs up Tune a servo for optimum performance.

Tero,

Thank you for posting the link to the Motion Engineering page.

There is a wealth of information that will help tune a servo for optimum performance.

Hi Steve,

Good to hear you're making progress! Just wondered:

How many lines are your encoders - 1250? Is this what you have the encoder PPR set to in GDTool?

Are the motors, encoders, gearboxes and pinions identical on each side of the gantry? Are they set up exactly the same (acceleration, max velocity, pulses per unit) in Mach3?

Are you using the pulse multiplier in GDTool? If so, what is it set to?

My apologies if these have been answered elsewhere.

Best regards,

Jason

Jason-

The encoders are US Digital E5 at 1250 CPR. I have the VSD-e set to 1250 for the encoder.

http://usdigital.com/products/encode...ial-electrical

the servo is a 1125 in. oz. from Keling
http://www.kelinginc.net/KL34-180-90.pdf

The gearboxes are made from thompson. Duratru 115 5 to 1 gearboxes
http://www.electromate.com/products/...ries_id=101250

the power supplies are from Aintec. com There are 3- 1000 watts
http://www.antekinc.com/details.php?p=325

the Rack and pinion is from Boston Gear.

In GD Tool I have both drives set exactly the same, and using 300 to 100 (3 to 1) for the step multiplyer.

if you want a copy of the tuning settings let me know.

My gantry weights about 250-300 lb.
