I've retrofitted my knee mill to use VSD-A drives. It has differential encoders from the factory on the machine and I have wired everything up and tested one axis last night. Following the procedure in the manual from the GDtool software I am having a problem. When I turn on the high voltage supply the motor starts spinning very slowly an accelerates. I always hit the estop right away because I cannot bench test my motor/encoder setup because the encoder and motor are seperate units. I tried reversing the polarity of the encoder in the setup, it made no difference. Tonight I will try to reverse the motor leads, who knows. Is there a way to test that the encoder is working with the GDTool or the SPI tools? I know the encoder was good when I was running the machine on another servo drive. Andy |
