Breakout boards and DC brushless compability

    hi Xerses,

I currently using stepper motor system and want to move over to servo system.
I have done some study for servo systems for about 2 months on this forum plus somewhere else but some questions still not answered yet

I am planning to use your servo drive system with other breakout boards. Just for preparation before I bought all components, I would want to make sure everything will be going nicely.

    question 1:
After I read both manuals from CNC4PC C11T BOB and your VSD-A rev.2. I couldn't find the solution how to wire them together. Is it possible to use C11T and your VSD-A? it would be great if you can show the diagram how to wire them.

    question 2:
If I buy DC brushless servo with spec:

    48VDC 3-phase rated 660watts and 55Amp peak.
continuous 2.1 Nm torque, peak 6.3 Nm
    max 3300rpm
    250lines decoder (8wire)

can your servo drive get the maximum power out of that servo motor?

    Cheers mate,

    Enno

    1. I'm sure there is people with more experience using CNC4PC boards with VSD-A than me. By specs C11T it looks suitable. Generally just connect drive's DIR- and STEP- to 0V and STEP+ and DIR+ to BOB step/dir outputs. Select BOB COM terminal to be ground (0V).

    2. No. It takes 55A peak current for 6.3Nm and 18.3A for 2.1Nm. Max peak torque with VSD-A would be 1.7Nm because of 15A limit.

hi xerxes thanks for your response. It really took me awhile to understand what you were saying. after I did some research on the manual on both products, I start to get what you mean. hahaha

do you have any actual picture for your servo drive, servo and encoder wiring?

    cheers mate

Unfortunately currently I have no photos that could serve as a good example. I usually make crap wiring deliberately for my own drives so I could spot the hardware problems if there is any. It's funny that even then I haven't been able to lose a single encoder count or step pulse.
