Box of first drives arrived today. I'll do final testing of new firmware and check updated documentations before making them public.

Compared to previous VSD-E model, manufacturing cost increased over 30% (more expensive components and apparently PCB assembly houses pricing change), but we are limiting sale price increase to about 10%.

Changes in hardware are:
-Rugged 200V 60A MOSFETs (instead of 100V 33A)
-24V mechanical holding brake output
-New optoisolator for serial link (goodbye to interference caused communication errors)
-Controlled dV/dt for powerstage outputs (reduced EMI noise)
-Larger HV bus bypass capacitor
-No led signals from EXT connector any more (replaced by brake output), use optical fibers instead which reduces cable mess, too
-VSD-E heatsink has now mounting holes for a standard "Half brick" heatsink (useful for passive cooling at higher power)

"How much for shipping to the UK?"

Please send quote inquiries to sales@ email. Small package shipping to UK is typically around 20 eur.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of circuit are you using for current monitoring with this drive?

Dave.

I notice that the Granite drives are sold by Keling. They do not post any spec though.

Would they be likely to have the new model 160V or the older ones?

Are there any suppliers yet in the US?

It's too bad these VSD drives are so expensive. I can get real industrial servodrives surplus for less than the price of one of these little boards. Why make the project open-source and let it grow beyond your expectations, or at least let people build their own drives so the price isn't so nuts.

The only "wish" I would have for a newer version would be do away with the sub-d connectors.

I am doing a retrofit using existing motor cables. These cables are about. 75" in diameter. Not ideal to use with sub-d connectors.

Thanks for the ideas! The next drive has been under active development a while and already is looking very good. Lots of great ideas from customers have been realized (including nicer power & motor connectors).

BTW, to avoid wiring to D-sub connectors (encoder etc) one can use this kind of D-Sub-breakout connected with standard D-sub data cable:
CONN INTERFACE MODULE DSUB 15 - 2315175

Yes phoenix contact make them too but they are less then ideal depending on component layout and extra cost is fail

The subd shells I got in my install "kit" were junk too. Had to re purchase high quality ones

Very nice installation!

It is a fact that D-subs are not the most pleasant type of connector to wire (especially the high density type, normal density is much more bearable). One alternative to soldering them is to use this kind of part:

I have used few of those but I personally still prefer soldering for best reliability.

I'm curious @legendboy. What didn't you like about the Phoenix Contact D-sub modules?
