Ok so.. I've been running these VSD-A drives for longer than i want to admit w/ out some of the wiring completed. I've finally got time and the hardware to wire this all correctly but now I'm confused on the 'how' part of the equation.. In regards to the CMD header Pin 4 [Disable + ] should I be putting +5vdc in here to 'enable' the drive? If at some point we want to disable the drive we would remove the 5vdc? Or Is this a '5vdc to pin4 to Disable the drive' functionality? I would think the 5vdc to ENABLE the drive is a safer way of wiring things but... maybe I'm missing something.. [ie if a wire breaks or a P/S goes south, the drive will disable and then not following commanded position and fault?]

| From a look at the manual it is both connections to an Opto input en-/en+ which means you could set it for sink or source type, the example shows it in sink mode, the en- is connected to common, and the +ve is taken High, presumably taking it high (+ve) will disable if it is working now with it open. | Al is that on the VSD-E or the VSD-A?

| ahh I see what your looking at. Ya I think it is disabled when Disable + is taken High... which is not the best but.. So on my illuminted push button 'Enable' switch, the switch is open and the light is illuminated. [Instead of being illuminated when the switch is closed]... kinda backwards...

| If you have it unconnected right now and the drives are on then it has to be high to disable, with the en- at common. You could always either change the logic to the lamp or add a N.O. switch section to the PB? Al.

| Possibly but both of those options are probably outside my skill-set.

| To set VSD-A in disabled state (and also clear fault status), connect CMD pin to 3 GND pin 4 to 5V. In VSD-A the polarity is fixed (so that drive is enabled by default) and in VSD-E/XE the enable/disable pin polarity can be chosen via GDtool. |

| Thanks Tero, I may be picking up a couple more [VSD-E] drives but for now I'll wire the VDS-A's as you've noted. Thanks sir!
