I have five major USB devices on my system, a pokeys , a Granite VXE 160 , a Dugong , A smoothstepper and a Xbox 360 'pendant' They do not get along. I have been trying to solve one problem with FTDI drivers. It seems that Smoothstepper and Granite devices both write there own custom FTDI drivers to Windows. There is a long thread over on MACH3 yahoo site, called USB overload. the thread below is the last post, from greg at smoothstepper and it seems to sum up the problem >>>> Glad you for a working solution. If you have more than one FTDI device connected to the computer at the same time, they all have to use the same revision of the driver. They can use different revisions as long as they are not connected at the same time. This is a problem that really annoys me about FTDI. I have begged them to write an application that searches the Registry and produces a list of devices and the driver versions they use. They don't see it as a problem. I noticed that FTDI just released a new driver on August 11th. I will download it and make the changes to the INF files to make it a SmoothStepper driver. I'll upload that to the warp9td website. It won't be there for a little while, but here is what the direct link will be: http://warp9td.com/files/SmoothStepp...ver2.08.02.zip You will want to have Granite Devices update their driver as well if they have a custom driver and they haven't done so yet. Thanks, Greg >>>>>> end of quote. |

| Hi Greg, GD software should work fine with latest FTDI drivers as well. The driver included in GDtool/DCtool installer is not the latest but you can afterwards install later driver if necessary. Latest drivers can be downloaded from: http://ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm At the moment the correct file is 2.08.02 (setup exe). We plan to include latest driver when next versions of our software are out. Actual problems may be caused by software trying to access wrong USB device as they can be easily to mixed with other FTDI devices. |
