Default Stragne but dangerous behavior of VSD-E

    Hi,
i am verry happy with the VSD-E /x Drives which i use in My Retrofit project i am about to Finnish soon (some pics here http://www.tkamsker.at:8080/web/pub/analyse on my old homepage)

the Z Axis has around 350kg and has an Brake
in Normal mode the brake works as it should
But if i switch off the 160V to simulate error the Brake is still open only if i switch off the 12V the brake is closed.

I was under the impression that if there is an under voltage (or over voltage and other errors like the manual says ) the brake should be applied.

i did configure that error reset works if power is back to ok

Is there anyone who has an hint for me because this really blocks my finnishing ,..

i did play for more than 6 weeks to get the configuration the way i have it right now ,..
so sometimes the moving masses make the drive stall and in that case i need the brake working

so i am happy for any input or advice or sample what i could do

    thx
    thomas

try putting a ttl relay in the circuit to chop power to the brake when the error signal changes state.

    Hi,
do you mean i should do an circuit which reads the fault pin and if it goes high i cut the brake line using an relay ?

Thank you for the input i will consider that as plan b i hope i get answer of granite beginning of next week

it has been a long time since I set up my machine but I don't think the vsd will operate the brake, it needs to have some sort of circuit to manage the operation, I can't remember if the breakout board they sell includes that or not or if you are using it.

    Hi
i am referring to that picture so in theory the VSD should be able to do the brake (which is happening to some extend)
Stragne but dangerous behavior of VSD-E-bildschirmfoto-2014-05-25-um-13-01-a
    and the Status picture says
    and the logic

So i now have to somehow intercept the error signal and work it to an extra relay ,..
    thx

obviously you are correct, i guess I discounted it as I have 110V dc brake on my system so a relay is required.
