How to cut PEX-AL-PEX pipes | |
We're looking for an online technique to cut PEX-AL-PEX pipes that doesn't deform the pipe and that leaves the pipes clean (no chips, no water, etc) when leaving the cutting system. Pipe daimeters range from 14mm to 110mm and the online speed of the pipe is 20m/min (for large diams) upto 80 m/min (for small diams). Cutting rate is one cut per metre.
Some techniques that come to mind are...
- circular saw (but creates chips)
- water jet (but creates water residue)
- planetary disk knife system (but deforms the pipe end)
- milling (but creates chips)
- wire sawing (probably too long and creates some chips and residue)
Does anyone have any other ideas / experience / solutions ??
