I'm currently doing a final design project towards my mechanical engineering degree and I'm in need of assistance in machining certain parts. Due to a confidentiality agreement I can't explain what the part is for but i can describe my requirements.
I need to mill a groove into 1 to 1 1/2 inch thick piece of 7040 pyrex, or another borosilicate glass, that's the easy part. I also need to put a 1/4" radius along one edge. and a 3/8"x45* chamfer on another edge. I'm not familiar with machining this material and would like references regarding the process.
I am with the understanding that, along with the proper coolant, I need Diamond coated end mills to do this, and I've found those, but I'm unsure where to get a concave radius or chamfer mill that is diamond coated. Is that even necessary? I also dont have much of an idea of what RPM(cutting speed) I should be using.
what companies should I contact regarding that?

Thank you in advance
